16” x 20” Stretched Canvas Painted with Golden and Old Holland Masters Acrylics April 2019 I came across a picture of an Old Harley engine, and since I had just finished an old Indian motor, I decided to do this one as well. I really enjoy painting the old engines because they have all the lines and tubing and gizmos in plain sight that make them run. With newer engines, everything is clean and tucked away. Sure, they are a lot more work, but sometimes you just have to paint something you love.

I usually associate Indian bikes with a Red theme, but since the others were in Orange I decided to do the same. I really enjoyed this engine because of the chain and all of the wires and tubing that was on the motor.

16” x 20” Stretched Canvas Painted with Golden and Old Holland Masters Acrylics March 2019 While looking for reference photos for my bird series, I found a clip of this Swanson Thrush. I had no idea what bird it was, but I have a friend who is a bird lover, and he immediately identified it for me. I mainly liked the pose – even though it’s actually a small bird, he was posed like a Great Eagle. I put him on the grey background and solitary branch to focus attention to him.

16” x 20” Stretched Canvas Painted with Golden and Old Holland Masters Acrylics March 2019 I came across this photo of a hawk and since I had just completed several other bird paintings, I decided to try this one to match another bird. I really like the deep eyes of this bird, along with the sharp bill – when you combine them with his four sharp talons on each foot, you know he’s a bird to be reckoned with! These birds stand almost two feet tall and have up to a four-foot wingspan.

12” x 16” Canvas Panel Painted with Golden and Old Holland Masters Acrylics March 2019 Dunster Castle, built by the Norman Baron de Mohun four years after William the Bastard conquered England, dominates a village whose delightful features include the seventeenth-century yarn market, seen here in the foreground. I really enjoyed painting the roofs and all of the village; I could see myself walking around the streets exploring window displays. This was a painting I did just for enjoyment.

16” x 20” Stretched Canvas Painted with Golden and Old Holland Masters Acrylics April 2019 I found this photo of a Carolina Wren during the research for my bird series – I thought, wow that is a cool photo, so I started to paint it. I was so impressed by the bird feeder made from a cup and saucer, chains, and a spoon. The chain was attached to the saucer by three book clips, and I just thought how simple and neat it was at the same time.

16” x 20” Stretched Canvas Painted with Golden and Old Holland Masters Acrylics March 2019 A long time ago I did a series of heart paintings - although most were of a bloody vampire type, I decided to do this one a bit differently. The cord plugged into the heart reminded me of the time when everything was plugged into outlets, or as in this case, a coiled electric guitar cord. The heart is giving off energy, or maybe the cord is providing energy – who knows!

12” x 16” Canvas Panel Painted with Golden and Old Holland Masters Acrylics March 2019 I have been teaching several guys how to paint - they already had a few skills, but I am trying to encourage them to paint new things. We picked this photo of a tree and gate; really, you cannot see the gate, but all things lead the viewer’s eye to the gate. Three of us painted this same painting, and all three were slightly different, so it helps illustrate how we all view art differently.

The ship had so many elements to it, such as the sky and clouds, and the motion of the water, and of course the ship itself.
